As the exciting week of Camp Hope begins on a Monday morning in July, no one knows how the lives of two sets of sisters will be impacted that week. Both sets of sisters were attending Camp Hope (VBX). Our hope for this camp was that children would understand they are made by God for a purpose. Our memory verse for the week was, “Let your light shine for others to see. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven” Matthew 5:16.
Elyse and Olivia are regular Hope Church attendees and they met and befriended two girls, we’ll call them J & J who were invited from the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM). During the course of the week, Elyse and Olivia learned about the Mission and how J & J, along with many other kids, have very few belongings when they arrive at CVRM. Inspired by their friendship and the fundraising done at Camp Hope to benefit the Mission, Elyse and Olivia went home and diligently went through their belongings. Then, not only willingly, but with great excitement donated a large number of items to their new friends at the Mission (along with many other kids who live there!). At Hope KIDS we love to find opportunities for children to help other kids. Elyse and Olivia went above and beyond to SHINE and show the love of Jesus to their community.
